History

One of the original farmland lots in the region, today Byng Estate is home to a second generation of family focused on breeding Scottish Highland cattle, alongside a stud and commercial herd of Angus cattle.

Built at the turn of the 20th century, Tremearne Homestead has recently been renovated throughout. With original windows and doors, and soaring 14 to 18 foot ceilings, there is a sense of history in every room.

Accommodation

6 Bedrooms | 3.5 Bathrooms | Sleeps 14

The homestead accommodates up to 14 guests, making it the perfect getaway with the family, to spend quality time with friends, for bridal parties, or vineyard tour groups. Children of all ages are welcome.

Six spacious bedrooms all have king beds, including a mezzanine double king bedroom with a sofa bed that’s ideal for groups of friends or children. All beds can be split into king singles, and are fitted with quality bed linen. Scenic views of the gardens can be enjoyed from every window.

Bathrooms are stocked with complimentary amenities, and there is also a bathtub for long soaks. Full laundry facilities make longer stays easy.

At the heart of the homestead is a gourmet farmhouse kitchen, with soaring 18 foot ceilings complimented by panoramic views of the gardens and farmland. Fully-equipped with a gas stove, double oven and coffee machine, there are pantry staples along with milk, juice, sourdough bread, and two bottles of local wines to get you started.

The formal dining space adjacent to the kitchen seats eight around a beautiful antique table. Light the fire and enjoy dinner together, then relax in the lounge with a glass of wine or two, and play some tunes on the piano.

In the living room, catch up on your favourite Netflix shows, or watch a movie on the 55-inch HDTV. And if you need to get work done, the homestead has complimentary high-speed WiFi.

Air-conditioning, heating, and a wood combustion fire keep guests comfortable in every season.

The homestead’s surrounds are simply stunning. Inspired by Italian garden design, Byng Estate’s four acres of private gardens will take your breath away. Weeping willows, magnolias, expansive lawns, daffodils, and a lake surrounded by magnificent deciduous trees invite you to spend hours outdoors. The east, west and south verandahs provide perfect entertaining areas, no matter the weather.

In warmer months, unwind with a swim in the solar heated pool with peaceful country views, followed by a BBQ lunch. Come evening, light the fire pit and toast marshmallows under star-studded country skies.

Tremearne Homestead is part of a working cattle farm, including a herd of delightful Highland cattle. Guests are welcome to watch farm operations from a safe distance.

We had an amazing stay at Tremearne homestead! The property is beautiful, spacious, and full of character. Our group of friends enjoyed every moment of our stay. The fully-equipped kitchen and fire pit made our wine nights over the long weekend perfect. The garden is lovely, and the peaceful farm surrounds provided a calming atmosphere. Unmissable views at sunrise and sunset. Highly recommended, and will definitely be back!
