Sleeps 10 | Bedrooms 5 | Bathrooms 3

Built in 1857, Woolbrook Homestead has been home to five generations of the Morrison family, and is now opening its doors to guests wishing to experience country life at its finest. A recent renovation by current custodians Anise and Lachlan - who grew up at Woolbrook - has led to the creation of an elegant, luxurious farm stay. The homestead, built with local bluestone, retains significant period detail throughout, including wood panelling, wide oak floorboards, high ceilings with detailed cornices, incredible leadlight doors and windows, original pendant lights and open fireplaces, with each room rich in historic charm.

Woolbrook comfortably accommodates ten people in 5 separate bedrooms. The master bedroom with king bed features an ensuite with Aesop amenities, and dressing room. There’s a further two bedrooms with king beds, a queen room, and the fifth has twin beds - all with luxuriously soft, pure linen sheets. Each bedroom has been elegantly styled, furnished with antique pieces, vintage armchairs and original artwork. A shared bathroom has a gorgeous clawfoot bath, complimentary Olieve & Olie handwash and soap, and Kevin Murphy shampoo & conditioner.

An open plan lounge area has comfortable linen couches to relax in, and there’s complimentary Wifi, Apple TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and bluetooth sound system for your entertainment needs. The large country kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you need to create gourmet meals. Choose to dine at the farmhouse table in the living area, or in the stunning formal dining room - with its deep ink blue walls, Victorian antique furniture, and marble fireplace.

Guests also have exclusive use of a games room with billiards table, toys for the kids, and a grand piano that’s been played in the homestead for over 100 years. Outdoors, there’s over two acres of gardens to explore. Enjoy a game of tennis, then cool off in the private swimming pool. Wide verandahs offer quiet spots for reading, or relaxing with a glass of wine watching the sunset. Surrounding the homestead are expansive lawns with BBQ, outdoor dining setting and fire pit, making for memorable evenings spent eating al fresco, then chatting by the fire long into the night.

Situated on a working farm, with a focus on sheep and crops, there’s always a buzz of activity beyond the homestead’s gate - whether it’s lambing, shearing, sowing or harvesting time. Caring for the land has always been important, and during the 1960s-80s, Janice (Jimmy) and John Morrison planted thousands of native trees, creating a haven for Australian birds and wildlife. At sunrise, take the picturesque 5km walk alongside one of Woolbrook’s creeks, lined with beautiful river gums, and say hello to the shy sheep you meet along the way.

Woolbrook Homestead offers guests a magical combination of rustic charm, understated luxury and gracious country hospitality, making this undoubtedly one of Australia’s finest farm stays.

Things To Do

Woolbrook Homestead is only 90 minutes from Melbourne, part of the small historic town of Teesdale, dating to 1852. A year after Woolbrook Homestead was built, the Presbyterian church was also constructed from bluestone, and still stands today. Once you’re at Woolbrook, it’s unlikely you’ll want to leave…but if you feel like a drive, head to Inverleigh Pub for a meal or craft beer, an impressive c.1856 two storey bluestone building. Visit Moorabool Ridge’s cellar door, housed in a 19th century farmer’s cottage, and enjoy a gourmet grazing platter overlooking Moorabool Valley.
