Built in the early 1900s, this charming, fully-renovated Federation cottage has beautiful historic features throughout. White Cottage is just one block away from North Hobart’s bustling café and restaurant scene, yet offers a quiet and cosy feel the moment you step through the front door.

With its restored weatherboard facade and pretty leadlight front door, the cottage’s interior also features original windows and doors, several ornate fireplace surrounds, a heritage-listed stone chimney, Tasmanian oak timber floors, high ceilings, and picture rails. While period details have been carefully retained, a modern kitchen and bathroom have been added, providing you with the best of both worlds.

Elegantly furnished with gorgeous ceramics and original artworks, White Cottage sleeps up to six guests, and welcomes families with children of all ages (cot supplied at no extra charge), couples, executive travellers, and small groups travelling together.

Accommodation

With a fresh, light and airy feel throughout, three spacious bedrooms all have queen size beds, with luxurious, crisp hotel-quality linens and electric blankets to keep you toasty warm. Two bedrooms have large built-in wardrobes, giving you space for longer stays.

Designed as a peaceful sanctuary, the main bathroom has been stylishly appointed, with an extra deep, full-size bath and separate shower, heated towel rail, and large window. Australian botanical Salus bath and body products are complimentary, along with bath salts. Pour a glass of wine, choose a book, and take a long soak overlooking the courtyard garden. Bliss!

Light the wood fire in the lounge room - there’s plenty of firewood provided - and work your way through the selection of coffee table books with cups of tea, or play a game of Uno or Scrabble. The open plan kitchen and dining area has French doors out to the courtyard, as well as a servery window…on sunny days, open up the bi-fold window and bring the outside in. The fully-equipped kitchen has every amenity, with dishwasher and Nespresso coffee machine, and Twinings tea, coffee and milk provided, along with pantry essentials like olive oil.

Outside, the front verandah is a great spot for watching the world go by with your morning coffee. To the rear of the cottage, enjoy your own private courtyard garden with timber decking and BBQ. North facing, it captures sun throughout the day, and is a great spot for entertaining and dining al fresco, or for quiet relaxation with some Tassie wine and cheese each evening.

Choose to sit up at the bar area and open up the kitchen servery bi-fold windows, or around the outdoor dining table that seats six. And with the convenience of a full laundry and clothesline, White Cottage is the perfect city base for longer stays, so you can fully experience Hobart and its surrounds.

Beautiful cottage with plenty to do close by. Warm and quiet, we loved the comfy beds, and it was so nice to light the fire and enjoy a few cosy nights in. Would definitely stay again.
