Could a facade be any more inviting? With its sunny yellow exterior and decorative fretwork, this 1840's early Victorian terrace house is one of Launceston’s most beautiful historic stays. Sitting on the edge of town, it’s the perfect base from which to discover everything Northern Tasmania has to offer.
The Townhouse Tasmania is a free-standing, double brick, triple storey terrace house, with an interior style that artfully combines antique furnishings reflective of the home’s period, with bold use of colour, playful patterns and contemporary artworks, that pop against crisp white walls.
The house is rich in period detail, including detailed fretwork, cedar and marble fireplaces, fine internal joinery, blackwood staircase and floorboards, high ceilings, decorative cornices, chandeliers, and original windows and doors.
All three floors are joined by an elegant original blackwood staircase. There are two large bedrooms, with luxurious king beds dressed in soft pure linens. Couples and families are welcome, and beds can be split into singles if required. Upstairs features an expansive living room and closed-in verandah that’s now a sunroom, with a view over Launceston’s oldest church, built in 1902, and leafy Princes Square Park. Unwind at the end of the day on comfortable sofas, or curl up with on a day bed in the sunroom with a good book. The Townhouse also has a smart TV with Netflix and WiFi included.
After a long day sightseeing, in the bathroom there’s a deep bath to soak in, with complimentary Mr Smith amenities. To the rear of the property, an updated kitchen has all you need to prepare culinary delights from fresh local ingredients. Tall double-hung windows allow light to stream into this space, and beyond the kitchen, you’ll find a stone courtyard with outdoor dining area, a perfect spot for an evening G&T.
