The Homestead at Ding Dang Doo Estate, c. 1900

Sleeps 8 | Bedrooms 4 | Bathrooms 3

Tucked down a peaceful, tree-lined country road, in the beautiful Hawkesbury region of NSW lies The Homestead at Ding Dang Doo Estate, surrounded by 30 acres of tranquil gardens & farmland. Originally home to a 100-acre orchard in the 1900s, The Homestead was built at the turn of the century, and retains much of its original period detail including lofty tongue & groove ceilings, decorative cornice, polished floorboards, four ornate fireplaces, chimneys and original windows & doors.

Catering for couples, small group gatherings and families, the main homestead sleeps six guests, and there’s also the self-contained cute-as-a-button ‘Bonnies Tiny Cottage’, that sleeps two, just steps away on its own private property. With flexible accommodation options available, further guests can also be catered for.

The Homestead has three spacious bedrooms - a master with king bed, walk in robe, and its own ensuite. The second bedroom with queen size bed features doors leading out onto the bullnose verandah. The third bedroom has two singles, and a cot is available upon request. All are fitted with quality bed linen, bathrobes & slippers. A second bathroom features a shower, luxurious soaking bath, and range of Sukin natural products; and the mudroom and full laundry makes longer holidays easy.

In the morning, head to the large country kitchen to prepare a leisurely breakfast, while taking in stunning views out every window. Bread and fresh eggs from the chooks are included, along with pantry staples and a professional Delonghi coffee machine for barista-quality coffee. In the evening, cook your favourite meals in the Smeg oven, and gather round the dining table that seats eight…or your hosts can also arrange a private chef if you prefer to sit back and relax! Upon arrival, guests also receive a bottle of local Brut Bilpin Cider - enjoy a glass out on the verandah, or grab a picnic blanket and head down to the lawn to watch the sunset. Unwind in front of the fire in the lounge, choose from the books & board games available, and there’s even a piano to play.

You could spend every day outdoors exploring the Estate. There are stunning Georgian gardens dotted with maples over a century old, a magical rock swimming pool surrounded by established trees, and breathtaking views to Bowen Mountain. Enjoy lunch on the jetty before kayaking on the lake, wander the many peaceful bush trails listening to bluebirds, and meet the horses and sheep. With a BBQ and pizza oven, end the day with dinner in the garden, followed by stargazing around the fire pit.

Just over an hour’s drive from Sydney, The Homestead provides the perfect respite from city life. A blissful sanctuary, it’s a place to recharge, reconnect with nature, and spend special time with family & friends.
