Sleeps 6 | Bedrooms 3 | Bathrooms 1

Welcome to The Beasley, a gorgeous limestone farmhouse built in 1921 and wonderful example of South Australian heritage architecture. The Altmanns were one of the original European families that settled in the valley in 1868, and the farmhouse was built by one of the family’s sons. The home was named ‘Ellimatta’, which is the Aboriginal word for ‘my home’. Stone from an original quarry on the farm was used to build the farmhouse.

The Beasley has undergone a sympathetic and stylish restoration, with many period features retained throughout, including decorative high ceilings, two original fireplaces, cedar flooring. original sash windows and doors, attractive exposed stonework, and even an antique grain-grinding block.

There are three bedrooms to sleep six guests, two with king beds, and one bedroom with two king singles. All beds are dressed with natural fibres for a blissful night’s sleep, with luxurious pure French flax linen, Australian pure wool bedding, and sumptuous mohair & alpaca throws. Each bedroom is simply furnished with rustic, timeless vintage pieces.

The large fully-equipped kitchen is a dream to cook in, fitted with modern appliances, Nespresso coffee machine, and special touches such as handmade ceramic crockery, bone-handled antique cutlery, and hand-etched glassware that add to your experience. Coffee & tea, milk and olive oil are provided. When booking, mention Historic Stays and receive a premium bottle of Adelaide Hills wine.

The luxurious bathroom features a claw foot bath, heated towel rail, and Australian-made Leif botanic amenities to complement the property’s natural surrounds. After a day exploring the stunning Adelaide Hills, soak in a candlelit bubble bath and unwind with a glass of wine….or relax snuggled up on the comfortable lounge in front of the wood fire. Play your favourite tunes on the Bose sound speaker, and enjoy views of unspoilt natural beauty from every window.

Step outside, and there’s a rambling country garden to enjoy with fire pit area, a quiet place to gather and connect of an evening. Plenty of firewood is provided.
