Frida’s Woollahra, 1929

History

The original inhabitants of Woollahra and its surrounding suburbs were the Gadigal and Birrabirragal people. ‘Woollahra’ is likely to have originated from the Indigenous word 'Woo-la-ra', which was translated to mean 'The look-out' - a fitting name, given that Woollahra still commands some of the most spectacular views of the harbour. The Woollahra district became a local municipality in 1860.

The gracious ‘Buckingham’ apartment building was constructed circa 1929 along Edgecliff Road, sitting high overlooking Woollahra, Double Bay and Sydney Harbour. With its solid brick facade and curved balconies, the Buckingham is synonymous with ‘Sydney Red Brick’ Art Deco architecture.

Fully restored, designed and styled by Elise Croker, with high quality custom finishes and beautiful attention to detail throughout, Frida’s set a new standard for historic, self-contained apartment accommodation in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs.

Accommodation

A luxurious Sydney pad for couples, Frida’s exudes elegance with a touch of glamour in an ornate apartment almost a century old. Bold colour, original artwork, and a blend of custom made and vintage furniture provide an eclectic injection of personality, sitting alongside classic Art Deco curves, arched doorways, high ceilings, and detailed cornices.

The queen bedroom, fitted with high quality joinery, is adorned with pure French linens for a dreamy sleep. Two large windows frame a view of magnificent London plane trees that change with the season, providing a peaceful connection with the outdoors. Your bathroom is a luxurious oasis, tiled in a soft palette of blush pink and greys, spacious double rain shower, and indulgent Salus Body products.

Cook your favourite meals in the cleverly designed, stylish kitchen with stone benchtops, dining nook, full-sized dishwasher and European laundry with washer and dryer. Tea, coffee, olive oil and milk are supplied.

The cosy lounge room features a gas log fireplace, library with a curated collection of books, smart TV, and complimentary WiFi. Choose a beautiful book and read spend an afternoon relaxing on the built-in day bed.

Facing north, Frida’s is bathed in natural light, overlooking Bellevue Hill and down towards Sydney Harbour. Enjoy breakfast and coffee each morning on the charming sun-drenched balcony while planning your adventures for the day. Then come evening, it’s a lovely place to enjoy dinner and drinks as the sun sets over the harbour.
