Built in the early 1900s by Charles Barnett as a family home for his wife and 13 children, Bridport Beach House is a charming seaside cottage with a history of happy family memories. A lovely example of classic Edwardian architecture, the home features soaring ceilings, double-hung windows, wainscoting, and original iron lacework-framed verandahs. The original picket fence, first erected by the Barnett family in the 1920s, has been carefully rebuilt to enclose the sprawling established gardens surrounding the home. Host Kirsten Winspear and family have owned the property for almost twenty years, and have both lived and holidayed here. Now that Kirsten’s children are older, it was the right time to turn the beach house into luxury accommodation, allowing others to enjoy this beautiful heritage home just as they have.

Bridport Beach House is tastefully furnished throughout, with a blend of contemporary and antique pieces, and original artwork that makes this feel like home away from home. Four generous bedrooms accommodate up to eight guests (or nine including an infant); with a king, two queens, and twin room. Each bed is thoughtfully made up with beautiful linen and luxurious pillow-top mattresses, and a cot is also available on request. Both master and ensuite bathrooms feature spacious showers, fluffy towels, and quality Murchison-Hume & Sukin products.

The open plan kitchen with freestanding 900mm oven and induction cooktop is a cook’s delight, and the spacious island bench is vast enough that the family can sit and chat without getting in the chef’s way! Stocked with all the bakeware and appliances you need, the kitchen also boasts pantry staples such as olive oils and spices, plus T2 teas and fresh beans ready to grind in the Saeco espresso machine.

Relax in the light-filled, stylishly furnished living and dining area, with sweeping views over the treetops to beautiful Anderson Bay. If the weather keeps you indoors, the fully stocked bookshelf, board games, table tennis, card, darts, and Netflix will keep the household well entertained – but otherwise, open up the timber bi-fold doors opening that lead directly onto the deck with sunloungers, alfresco dining area, firepit and bbq area. The perfect place to relax with a glass of local wine, soak up the water views across the expansive lawns and gardens, with established roses, camellias and oleanders.

Make yourself comfortable at the outdoor table under the old fig tree with a good book and a cheese platter, accompanied by figs picked fresh from the tree. The fully fenced yard allows children to roam play freely and there’s plenty of space for a game of soccer or a hit of backyard cricket! There’s also a full-sized tennis court directly across the street. Bridport Beach House is a holiday stay you’ll want to return to time and again, both for its heritage charm and magical seaside setting.
