Nestled at the foot of the Blue Mountains, heritage-listed Beechwood House and Gardens was originally a place of rest for travellers making their way from Sydney to the golden agricultural land of the Central West. Set on 20 acres, with 9 acres of orange trees, it operated as a much-loved guesthouse for many years. Set amidst exquisite gardens, ‘Beechwood’ provided a peaceful retreat for those seeking respite from city life.
Recently renovated to a high standard, Beechwood House and Gardens offers guests tranquility and natural beauty that has been attracting visitors for decades, now with today’s modern comforts and luxuries. A late Victorian homestead, classically Australian with wide shady verandahs, the house features soaring ceilings, the original tall arched windows and doors, open fireplaces, and beautiful polished floorboards. Owner and host Sonia will be there to greet you upon arrival.
Accommodating up to eight guests, Beechwood House and Gardens has three queen bedrooms, with additional double sofa bed in the study room. A perfect country getaway for small groups of friends, as well as families with children, the house is also pet-friendly.
All beds are dressed with luxurious Cultiver pure linen sheets, and goose doonas, pillows and underlays for a dreamy sleep. The main bedroom has an ensuite with shower, and deep soaking bath with picturesque garden views. There is also a second bathroom with bath, and both are stocked with Aesop and French hair & body products.
The house features unique antique pieces and furnishings collected by Sonia over the years, alongside stylish contemporary furniture. Relax in the spacious lounge with the late afternoon sun streaming in through the windows, pop on your favourite tunes or a Netflix movie, and curl up with a glass of wine in front of the fire. And in the centre of the home, the original bread oven has been converted into a freestanding fireplace, a delight during winter.
Fully self-contained, cook your favourite meals in the large country kitchen, with a pantry stocked with organic oils, vinegars, spices, homemade limoncello, local ground coffee, and organic teas - and help yourself to fresh produce from the herb and vegetable gardens. To make the most of your surrounds, there’s also a second outdoor kitchen with pizza oven. Afternoons are best spent swimming in the large private heated pool, followed by homemade wood fired pizzas in the gazebo at sunset.
The expansive, established gardens are exquisite in every season - from purple jacarandas in Spring, to golden Autumn colours of mature deciduous trees dotted throughout the property. With Oak, Tupelo, Chinese Elm, Golden Ash, Ginkgo, Canadian Redwood, Chinese pistachio, Macadamia, Longan, Lychee, Satsuma plum, Persimmon, Feijoas and Pomegranate trees, this is truly heaven on Earth for gardeners and nature lovers!
Beechwood House and Gardens also has a separate large studio space equipped with art easels for guests’ use, a peaceful private retreat for painting, yoga…or just relaxing with a good book.

Just 1.5 hours from Sydney’s CBD, Beechwood House is only a 25 minute drive to the spectacular Mt Tomah Botanical Gardens, with a vast collection of plants, including rare and exotic species. Explore quaint Kurrajong Village nearby, with historic architecture and art galleries, and admire the views from the village, where you can look out over the Sydney Basin, from Penrith to the city.
Close to the iconic World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park, spend a day or two bushwalking, stopping at breathtaking lookout points, and learn about the Indigenous legend of ancient rock formation The Three Sisters. And while in the area, spend time wandering the historic townships of Katoomba and Leura with a wide range of cafes, boutique shops, and beautiful heritage buildings.
